Yay! A new costume is always fun, for a few months anyway! I've decided to begin with what I do best, embroidery. I've decided to hand embroider all the trim for the gown myself. It may sound crazy, but in fact it is a great way to save money on expensive trim while getting the best screen accuracy possible. Besides accuracy, the detailed embellishment work is the aspect I find most enjoyable in costuming. I did some practice runs on materials and have decided to embroider over a silver jacquard ribbon I already own. I started several days ago using silver Kreinik machine thread and DMC embroidery thread. I also grabbed some gorgeous glass bugle beads from one of my favorite spots, The Stitcher's Crossing. I've also been combing through possible sequin options from Carwrights but I haven't settled on anything yet. No pics yet!

The embroidery in progress. It's very hard to see the pattern with the silver on silver.

Long time, no update! Not too much happening with this project right now. I'm being rather lazy about completing the embroidered trim! I've picked up my glass/silver foil bugle beads and started adding them on, though I haven't even ordered my sequins yet! The top shows the partially completed trim, the bottom, the jacquard ribbon I embroidered over.
